Tonight's shot started as a macro, then wasn't, then was again, then wasn't, and the subject changed three times.

This is where I settled:



Lighting is the 580EX II at 1/32 + 1/3, gridded, and fired straight down into the pencils. The pencils are sitting on a white posterboard, which is reflecting a good bit of the light back up into them, giving them a nice wrap of light.



I would be remiss if I didn't mention this - today, we lost a good person. Rest in peace, Todd. You were a hard worker, and a genuinely decent human being. You will be missed.
